On September 12, 2013, science and technology department of Tianjin convened Chinese ocean engineering and petroleum system experts hold a meeting for a special equipment "jack-up drilling platform leg tilting monitoring system" developed for COSL company by CSICSEC. The experts agreed that the system has reached the international advanced level, it’s worth for further promotion to other platforms as well as other structure safety monitoring field.
They commented that ,this system
1、Creatively use indirect measurement method to measure the leg tilting, digital horizontal monitoring system to monitor the slope of the platform to solve the relationship between the leg tilt and platform tilt. Because of the pile legs are always in motion, and immersed in seawater most of the work time, this system applies the indirect method of measuring the guide plates" deformation of pile legs to directly measure the tilt between measuring platform and the pile legs lift which caused by the imbalance between pile stress result in deformation of the legs.
2、In view of all kinds of leg tilting conditions, set mechanical models, then according to a variety of mechanical model establishing the (inclined) pattern of leg. Because of the uncertainty of legs stress direction and stress points, through the analyses of a variety of typical condition caused by the stress of the guide plate stress state, this system can get the corresponding model mapping relation between the guide plate stress and pile legs stress, to provide forthright basis for judge the state of the pile legs.
3、For the stress state of each leg, set up an expert system which based on a specialized operation platform, in case of deviation, according to various clues on the platform attitude, the system gives concrete pile legs lifting operation suggestion to check horizontal of the platform attitude control, which can effectively solve the safety problems of offshore lifting operations.
CSOL company has earned more than ten millions RMB by using this system in No.BH4 drilling platform. So CSOL decided to install this system for its all Jack-up platforms in future. This plan will provide a good development prospect for CSICSEC in the field of Equipment integrity management.
